Established in 1975 and administered by the Education and Training Division (ETD), the competition is intended to promote excellence in the design aspect of nuclear engineering education in the universities. A key feature of the program is industry participation in the judging of the annual design problem.

Any university is eligible to submit solutions to nuclear engineering design problems, but participants must have a university affiliation and a faculty member as an advisor. There are separate competitions for graduate and undergraduate students. Each universit y must review solutions by its students and select the best from each category for submission.

A call for submission of nuclear engineering related design problems is issued by February, the intent to participate is due in June, and the actual reports must be submitted in July. The final judging to select the top two design projects in both the undergrad uate and graduate categories is completed in September. These four project teams are then invited to make presentations at the ANS Winter Meeting for final judging.

Nomination Deadline: June 29 - Intent to Participate

Presented: At the Winter Meeting

Monetary Award: Financial Travel Assistance
