The award was established in 1985 to recognize and honor Robotics and Remote Systems Division (RRSD) (formerly Rem ote Systems and Technology Division) members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of remote technology. It honors the late Raymond C. Goertz, who conceived and developed the master-slave manipulator.

Nominees are judged on their contributions to the advancement and/or application of remote technology in the nuclear industry. A nominee must be a current or retired member of the RRSD, and the nominator must also be a RRSD member. Division officers and committee members are not eligible during their terms of office.

Nominations are made on a form available from the division and should be accompanied by a 300 to 500 word summary explaining the qualifications of the nominee and his/her contributions to the field of remote technology.

Nomination Deadline: October 15 (even years only)

Presented: Biennially RRSD Topical Meeting held in the spring

of even numbered years

Monetary Award: $2,500
